in Mothers Giving Birth in 2024
Abstract
Background: The maternal mortality rate in Indonesia is 189 per 100.000 live births while the maternal mortality rate in NTB reaches 103 per 100.000 live births. The cause of maternal death in NTB province in 2023 was bleeding (28,57%). Bleeding can occur during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Perineal tears are one of the causes of maternal bleeding in the postpartum period. Objective: To determine the factors that influence the occurrence of perineal tears in mothers giving birth in the delivery room of one of General Hospital of West Lombok in 2024. Method: The research design is observational analytic with cross sectional design. The sampel is 251 respondents with systematic random sampling technique. The research instrument is register and medical record with secondary data type, data analysis with chi square. Results: There is a relationship between age and the incidence of perineal tears with p value of 0,012, there is a relationship between parity and the incidence of perineal tears with a p value 0,001, there is a relationship between birth weigth and the incidence of perineal tears with a p value 0,005, and there is a relationship between baby head circumference and the incidence of perineal tears with a p value 0,000. Conclusion: there is a relationship between maternal factors (age and parity) and infant factors (birth weight and head circumference) with the incidence of perineal tears in the delivery room of one of General Hospital of West Lombok in 2024.
