Penanganan farmakologis seperti analgesik efektif tetapi berisiko efek samping. Setelah diberikan BUSA, 94,12% responden mengalami penurunan menjadi nyeri ringan.

EFFECTIVENESS OF BULI–BULI SASAK (BUSA) ON DYSMENORRHEA PAIN
Abstract
Background: Dysmenorrhea is one of the most common reproductive health issues experienced by adolescent girls. Its prevalence reaches 64.25% in Indonesia, posing serious impacts on learning activities, quality of life, and school absenteeism. Pharmacological treatments, such as analgesics, are effective but carry risks of side effects. Non-pharmacological interventions, like warm compresses, serve as a viable alternative—one of which is the Buli–Buli Sasak (BUSA), based on local wisdom. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of Buli–Buli Sasak (BUSA) in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain among 8th-grade female students at SMPN 19 Mataram. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The sample consisted of 34 female students divided into two groups: the BUSA group and the menstrual massage group. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, paired sample T-test, and independent T-test.Results: Prior to the intervention, the majority of respondents experienced moderate pain. After the BUSA intervention, 94.12% of respondents saw a reduction to mild pain. Conversely, in the menstrual massage group, the majority (64.70%) remained in the moderate pain category. The paired T-test showed a p-value of 0.000 for both groups, while the independent T-test demonstrated that BUSA was more effective than menstrual massage (mean difference of 2.0867 vs. 1.2066). Conclusion: Buli–Buli Sasak (BUSA) is proven effective in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain in adolescent girls and is superior to menstrual massage.
