Abstract
Background: NTB is ranked third in the highest stunting prevalence in Indonesia with 37.2%. One of the causes of stunting due to malnutrition during pregnancy which can cause anemia and fetal growth to be inhibited.
Objective: To determine the correlation of maternal nutritional status with fetal weight growth in anemic pregnant women.
Method: This study used the Observational Analytical method in the Cross-Sectional approach which the population is anemia pregnant women whose nutritional status data was taken at the initial visit in the working area of Meninting Public Health Center with 30 people as the sample. Sampling used Purposive Sampling with 21-27 weeks gestational age. The growth of fetal weight was monitored every month using an ultrasound device 3 times by the same Sp. OG doctor. The statistical test used is the Fisher’s Exact test.
Results: The nutritional status of the most anemia pregnant women were in the thin category with BMI < 18.5 with 15 people (50%). Majority of thefetal weight growth experienced a mismatch, 16 people (53%) on the 1st ultrasound examination, 17 people (57%) on the 2nd ultrasound examination and 18 people (60%) on the 3rd ultrasound examination. The statistical test results show that p-value is 0.008 (p <0.05).
Conclusion: There is a correlation between maternal nutritional status and fetal weight growth in pregnant women with anemia.
